About Me
Krystina Woods, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine, Attending Physician in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Hospital Epidemiologist and Director of Infection Prevention at Mount Sinai West. Dr. Woods graduated from Ross University and completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York Hospital in Queens. During her residency she developed a keen interest in infectious diseases, and in particular in antibiotic resistance. She completed her Infectious Disease fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City. During her fellowship, she became interested in infection prevention and patient safety. She concentrated her research focus on the effects of antibiotics on organism’s resistance patterns.
Following fellowship, Dr. Woods went into private practice in New Jersey. Her interest in patient education and media led her to become the contributing medical author for a popular website for mothers regarding various health topics, in particular infectious diseases, vaccines and infection prevention. She was selected for Doximity fellowship’s Infectious Disease section where she was responsible for curating the site’s relevant literature in Internal Medicine and infectious Diseases.
Dr. Woods has co-authored several publications on the topic of antimicrobial resistance. She has also presented in New York’s citywide Infectious Disease conferences. Her research during fellowship was chosen to be presented at a national Infectious Disease conference. She is a member of a numerous professional organizations including the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American College of Physicians. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. In addition to infection prevention and antimicrobial resistance, Dr. Woods also has a strong interest in travel medicine.
Dr. Woods joined Mount Sinai West as the Hospital Epidemiologist and Director of Infection Prevention in March 2017.
