About Me
Laura Iavicoli, MD (She/Her) is a Professor of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Iavicoli currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and has been an attending physician in the Emergency Department at Elmhurst for over 20 years.
As Chief Medical Officer for Elmhurst, Laura is responsible for the daily medical operations of the Facility, including administrative functions, staffing, credentialing and performance improvement. In this position, she has led Elmhurst through 17 successful regulatory surveys, including a Joint Commission Triennial survey that produced the best survey results in the history of the organization.
Laura’s invaluable expertise and broad business range have powered a history of developing successful process improvements that drive productivity, reliability, and client satisfaction. Laura holds a Doctor of Medicine from Robert Wood Johnson - UMDNJ as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Neuro Psychology and Italian Studies from Boston College and has her Master’s in Business Administration.
Dr. Iavicoli has made immeasurable contributions to public health and anchored by leadership experiences with Elmhurst Hospital, NYC Health + Hospitals, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and through initiatives that have had broad-ranging local, regional, and national impacts.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
