About Me
Laura K. Stein, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is a vascular neurologist, medical educator, and stroke health services researcher. She is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Stein received a BA from Amherst College and her MD and MPH from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her internship, neurology residency, and vascular neurology fellowship at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Stein is a Neurology Residency Associate Program Director and leads the medical education track. She previously held roles in undergraduate medical education as Associate and Acting Neurology Clerkship Director and small group facilitator for the Art and Science of Medicine preclinical skills course. Dr. Stein’s clinical practice is as an inpatient attending at the Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Queens Stroke Centers. She additionally precepts in the Mount Sinai stroke fellows’ clinic.
Dr. Stein’s research program is dedicated to stroke health services and outcomes research. Her current work is devoted to understanding regional disparities in large vessel occlusion stroke care.
Dr. Stein received the 2022 Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Junior Faculty award and is the recipient of multiple departmental and institutional mentorship and teaching awards.
