About Me

Lauren Vetere began her neuroscience career as an undergraduate at the University of Florida, studying how working memory and decision making change with age. She moved to NYC in 2017 to start her Ph.D in Neuroscience at Mount Sinai. As a graduate student in the Shuman lab, she is investigating how neural circuits involved in spatial memory are disrupted in epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease. When she is not doing science, Lauren enjoys baking, creative writing, growing way too many succulents, and petting dogs in central park. She also advocates for graduate student mental health as part of Trainee Health and Wellness Committee (THAW), and teaches local middle school students about the brain with Mentoring in Neuroscience Discovery at Sinai (MiNDS).
