About Me
Dr. Lester Gottesman is colorectal surgeon in the Division of Colorectal Surgery.
He completed his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his surgical residency at Roosevelt Hospital. He attended a fellowship in Surgical Oncology from Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute and a subsequent fellowship in Colorectal Surgery from Ferguson Clinic.
He is active in national and international societies addressing anorectal fistula disease and pelvic floor and functional bowel disease.
He has published over 80 peer reviewed articles and over 15 book chapters and currently lectures about a variety of colorectal conditions.
His focus includes all aspects of anorectal disease including hemorrhoids, anal fissure and difficult anorectal fistula and pilonidal disease. He has a long experience with treatment of enigmatic anal pain. He treats functional disease such as fecal incontinence and constipation. He has published widely on sexual transmitted infections and all aspects of human papilloma disease. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies.
