About Me

Dr. Hanna earned her BA in biology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and then returned to her native New Orleans to pursue graduate studies. She completed her MPH in Health Systems Management at the Tulane University School of Public Health, and then pursued her medical degree at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. While in medical school, she received a scholarship from the Jefferson Parish Medical Society, and held leadership roles, including the presidency, in the medical honor society. Dr. Hanna received residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt. Dr. Hanna contributed to several research projects during her education and residency. In 1996 and 1997, she worked as a research associate at the Louisiana State University Eye Center studying the treatment of corneal disease caused by the herpes simplex virus; these results were published in the Journal of Virology and presented at a conference. In 1999, she did a summer internship at the Women’s Health Education Program of the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine, where she completed a research project on the benefits of breastfeeding and presented the results in a poster session at the university. In her last year of residency, Dr. Hanna reviewed and analyzed our department’s experience with a widely-used drug for treatment of preterm labor, indomethacin. Dr. Hanna is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the American Medical Society. She is interested in all aspects of general obstetrics and gynecology, and she is board certified in the specialty.
