About Me

Dr. Lorenzo Fitzig has been practicing cardiology for close to 40 years. After completing his undergraduate studies at NYU, Dr. Fitzig remained at the institution for his medical education at the NYU School of Medicine. He subsequently moved to Long Island Jewish Medical Center for his Internal Medicine residency, where he then remained for his Cardiology fellowship. As a double-board certified physician by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine, Dr. Fitzig has a special clinical focus on electrophysiology. Additionally, Dr. Fitzig is multilingual with proficiency in English, Romanian, Italian, and Spanish.

Prior to joining Mount Sinai in 2014, Dr. Fitzig spent 30 years in private practice. He currently holds Fellowship status in the American College of Cardiology and has multiple publications in his field.

Dr. Fitzig became interested in medicine as a young boy watching his paternal uncle, who was a pediatrician, take care of him. His desire to be like his uncle was then solidified during his involvement in neurologic research while in college. During this time, he encountered different doctors, and decided to dive further into the vast world of medicine.
