About Me
Luis Rivera Sánchez, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Breast Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Rivera received his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Puerto Rico. He completed internship and residency in General Surgery at Metropolitan Hospital Center, NYC Health and Hospitals, and a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Temple University Health System.
In addition to clinical experience, Dr. Rivera also has a background in breast cancer research, having completed a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore.
Dr. Rivera treats patients with breast cancer and benign high-risk patients. He sees patients at Mount Sinai Queens and The Blavatnik Family Chelsea Medical Center at Mount Sinai.
