About Me
Dr. Hermann is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at ICAHN School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research and scholarly interests are focused on emergency cardiology and in this area he has published multiple articles (both review and original research) and acted as guest editor of both the Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine and Current Cardiology Reviews for theme issues that focused on emergency cardiology. Additionally, for the past four years he has been the emergency medicine representative on an American College of Cardiology guideline writing committee.
Dr. Hermann’s administrative roles focus primarily on issues of quality assurance and performance improvement, both at a departmental and institutional level. He has completed a competitive Greater New York Hospital Association / United Hospital Fund Clinical Quality Fellowship and as director of performance improvement and patient safety for the department of emergency medicine oversees all departmental quality assurance and performance improvement activity. Additionally, he sits on multiple institutional quality, safety, and risk committees.

Research
BASICS (Biomarker Assessment to Stratify Ischemic Coronary Syndromes): Compare clinical risk tools, standard and novel biomarkers for the identification of inducible ischemia by stress imaging and 30 day and 6 month outcomes for major cardiac events in ED chest pain patients.
Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Score as predictor of stress test results: Evaluate the positive and negative predictive value of CAC score for identification of inducible cardiac ischemia in ED chest pain patients.
Bedside ultrasound assessment of acute dyspnea: evaluate utility of bedside ultrasound to identify acute decompensated heart failure in patients presenting to the ED with a chief complaint of shortness of breath.
