About Me
Maaike van Gerwen, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Research in the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. She is also affiliated with the Institute for Translational Epidemiology. She received her M.D. from the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and practiced as a physician in the Netherlands and France before joining the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai for a Ph.D. in Clinical Research. Her research interests include thyroid health and thyroid cancer, in particular environmental exposures contributing to thyroid cancer risk, as well as patient-centered outcomes research.
