About Me
Manasi Agrawal, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a gastroenterologist at the Mount Sinai Hospital, with focus in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Dr. Agrawal graduated from Gandhi Medical College, India, with academic distinctions and received the Indian Council of Medical Research scholarship. Dr. Agrawal trained in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn and in Gastroenterology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. She completed advanced fellowships in IBD at Lenox Hill Hospital Northwell Health and at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed Masters in Biostatistics at Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health, New York.
Dr. Agrawal specializes in the care of patients with IBD, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. She has publications pertaining to IBD treatment paradigms, outcomes, disparities and epidemiology. She is interested in IBD prediction and prevention, and the links between environmental health and human health. She is also interested in study of rising IBD in South Asia and other developing countries and the care of patients from these regions. She is supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases K23 Career Development Award to study early life risk factors for IBD and by the International Organization for the Study of IBD. Dr. Agrawal is passionate about equity in healthcare and in academia.
Dr. Agrawal has participated in writing guidelines relating to IBD care and is involved in committees with the American Gastroenterological Assocation and American College of Gastroenterology. She serves as the Secretary of the New York Crohn's and Colitis Organization. She has served on the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Greater Chapter of New York Fellows' Committee and on the Chapter Medical Advisory Committee.
