About Me
Dr. Margaret C. Sewell is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Director of the Outreach, Recruitment and Engagement Core of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC). Dr. Sewell, a clinical neuropsychologist, has extensive experience in neuropsychological evaluation, curriculum development, and training for research cognitive testing. She has developed the standardized certification process for coordinators and trainees in the ADRC, and assists in the design of cognitive testing batteries and conducts training for several grants at Mount Sinai. Dr. Sewell has significant teaching experience and co-directs the College Summer Internship program in the ADRC and is a clinical supervisor in the Neuropsychology Training Program. She also has extensive experience lecturing to the lay public, trainees and healthcare professionals regarding dementia diagnosis, treatment and research, as well as developing written, web-based and newsletters materials for wide circulation. Dr. Sewell conducts research in the areas of barriers to research participation and novel recruitment methods to engage diverse elders in clinical research. Dr. Sewell received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from New York University and was Chief Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell Medical Center where her research concerned treatment adherence and cognitive performance in those with HIV illness. She also maintains a neuropsychological testing and psychotherapy practice.
