About Me
Dr. Mariam Khandaker is a Board-Certified Cardiologist with sub-specialization in Interventional Cardiology. She joined the faculty of Mount Sinai Heart as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from Bangladesh Medical College. Subsequently, she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai Morningside & Mount Sinai West hospitals in New York City, followed by a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL. She returned to New York for Interventional Cardiology Fellowship—serving as Chief Interventional Fellow at Mount Sinai Morningside & Beth Israel hospitals—before joining Mount Sinai Heart.
Dr. Khandaker’s clinical focus includes coronary artery disease prevention, heart diseases (cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, valve disorders, high blood pressure, chest pain) and coronary artery interventions. Dr. Khandaker enjoys learning about each of her new patients in order to create an individualized care plan and answer any questions they may have about their diagnoses. She enjoys working with and teaching residents and fellows. Her research interests include coronary disease in South Asian populations and unique aspects of cardiovascular disease impacting women.
