About Me

Dr. Mark W. Green is the Emeritus Director of Headache and Pain Medicine and Professor of Neurology, Anesthesiology, and Rehabilitation Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is the Vice Chair of Neurology for Professional Development and Alumni Relations. He is certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, where he is a fellow.

He serves as the President of the World Headache Society.

He is also an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Medical Education at City University of New York School of Medicine. He is a Board Member of the National Headache Foundation.

Dr. Green graduated from Case Western Reserve University, and then received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He received his neurology training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and during that period worked in the Montefiore Headache Unit of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was later appointed director of that unit. He came to Columbia University in 1981, and then New York Medical College. He returned to Columbia University in 2000 to organize a section on headache and facial pain in the department of neurology and started one of the first UCNS headache fellowships in the country. There he was Director of Headache Medicine and Clinical Professor of Neurology (in Neurology, Anesthesiology and Dentistry) at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and the College of Dental Medicine. In 2009, he came to Mt Sinai to develop a program and fellowship in headache medicine.

Dr. Green was one of the founding editors of CEPHALAGIA in 1979, the international headache journal. He also served as the Associate Editor of HEADACHE, the journal of the American Headache Society. He has published several textbooks on headache.

He has a long-standing interest in neuropharmacology and served 3 four year terms a panel member of the Advisory Board of the Food and Drug Administration’s Section on Peripheral and Central Neurological Drugs. Since 2005, he has been a Special Government Employee (SGE) for the Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Green has been active in the practice of headache and facial pain since 1978. He has lectured throughout the world on this subject and has written numerous articles and books on various subjects concerning headache and facial pain.

The state of Florida requires out-of-state professionals who are registered to provide telehealth services to display a hyperlink to the Florida Department of Health telehealth web page. This allows Florida patients who are receiving medical care by telehealth to confirm the provider’s licensure and Florida registration.
