Matthew Dong, MD, FACS is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Dong graduated from Brown University with honors, earning a bachelor of arts in public policy. He received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He went on to complete the Advanced GI and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Dong’s areas of clinical focus include advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, foregut surgery, hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, and surgical endoscopy. He also has a special interest in health care policy and improving surgical outcomes. He has presented at numerous local, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Dong is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He serves on committees for the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and he is an active member of the American Hernia Society (AHS).
