About Me
Matthew S. Davitz, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He provides comprehensive epilepsy care at the Mount Sinai Epilepsy Center and the Clinical Neurosciences Center, where he evaluates and manages adults with seizures and epilepsy. His clinical work includes the interpretation of routine, ambulatory, and inpatient EEG studies and the treatment of patients with new-onset, refractory, and complex seizure disorders. He also has a strong interest in neuromodulation and participates in the evaluation and management of patients receiving device-based therapies such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS) as part of their epilepsy care.
Dr. Davitz has a deep commitment to expanding access to epilepsy care in underserved settings. He has delivered neurological care in resource-limited hospitals and collaborated with international teams to strengthen diagnostic capacity, patient evaluation, and continuity of care for individuals with epilepsy. His interests include developing sustainable training models, integrating telehealth and remote education, and supporting inclusive, patient-centered care. He is a proud member of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing Equality, reflecting his dedication to creating welcoming and affirming clinical environments for all patients.
He completed his Neurology Residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and Mount Sinai West, followed by Epilepsy Fellowship training at Mount Sinai Hospital. He earned his MD from St. George’s University. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society.
