About Me

Melissa A. Levoska, MD, FAAD, is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a board-certified dermatologist. Her primary clinical interests include cutaneous oncology – encompassing the full spectrum of diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance of keratinocyte carcinomas, melanomas, and cutaneous lymphomas – as well as cosmetic dermatology, dermatologic surgery, vitiligo, and hidradenitis suppurativa. Her primary research interests lie in epidemiology and outcomes of high-risk skin cancers. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed indexed articles across a variety of journals within and outside of dermatology, and her work has received national recognition in various news outlets.

Dr. Levoska completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi and earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, which she attended on a Board of Governors full-tuition merit scholarship. Her academic excellence was further recognized by election into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and receipt of the American Medical Women's Association's Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation Award.

During medical school, Dr. Levoska received a prestigious National Institutes of Health research fellowship to spend a year studying photosensitive dermatoses, including hydroa vacciniforme and trichothiodystrophy, at the National Cancer Institute. She also studied DNA repair mechanisms in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum, who are at increased risk of UV-induced skin cancer.

Dr. Levoska completed her dermatology residency training at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where she remained highly productive in her research endeavors, served as Research and Scholarship Chief Resident, and directed the resident cosmetic clinic. During residency, she also received the Oncodermatology Research Award, as well as the KCK Compassionate and Humanistic Care Award for her devoted mentorship of medical students and junior residents.

Her patients are her top priority, and she strives to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
