
About Me
Michael Kaplan MD is a general rheumatologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology. He cares for patients at Mount Sinai Morningside and West.
Dr. Kaplan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of rheumatic and autoimmune conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus), ankylosing spondylitis, scleroderma, Sjögren’s syndrome, vasculitis, gout, pseudogout, fibromyalgia, dermatomyositis, polymyositis, and sarcoid arthritis. He also has special interests in connective tissue disease-associated lung disease and chronic pain & unwellness in rheumatic disease. Dr. Kaplan earned his medical degree from the Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He then completed his fellowship in Rheumatology at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kaplan is active in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and is currently leading collaborative interdisciplinary research on advancing care for fibromyalgia.

The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
