
Michael Espino Horesh
About Me
Michael is an eighth-year MD-PhD student who is originally from East Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. As an undergraduate student, he joined the labs of Dr. Ellen Robey and Dr. Britt Glaunsinger where he undertook research studying the transcriptional regulation mechanisms of KSHV. After graduating, he spent two years as an NIH-funded PREP scholar in the lab of Dr. Matthew Evans at Mount Sinai where he helped develop an in vitro reverse transcription system for studying Zika virus. He then matriculated as an MD/PhD student at Mount Sinai, completing his PhD in the lab of Dr. Dusan Bogunovic where he identified a novel genetic syndrome causing autoimmunity and inflammation. Michael is pursuing residency training in Anesthesiology.
