Michael Choi, MD

Dr. Choi is an Assistant Professor of Surgery, in the Division of General, Metabolic, and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Choi specializes in minimally invasive surgery including both laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is also an experienced metabolic and bariatric surgeon and performs a variety of weight loss procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. He is a member of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery as well as the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Choi earned a Bachelor of Science, Biological Sciences Degree with Distinction from Stanford University. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago – Pritzker School of Medicine. He then completed his general surgery residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California where he earned several awards for teaching and outstanding academic achievement. Following residency, Dr. Choi went on to complete a fellowship in advanced gastrointestinal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and bariatric surgery at Weill Cornell Medical Center – New York Presbyterian Hospital.
