Michael Teddy Rutkowski, DPM
Podiatry
About Me
Dr. Michael T. Rutkowski is a podiatrist based in Manhattan, who specializes in Foot & Ankle Surgery. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and practices in the outpatient setting at Mount Sinai Doctors-2875 Broadway location.
A lifelong New Yorker, he was born and raised on Long Island, son of Polish immigrants who from a young age instilled in him a strong work ethic. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University majoring in Biology and subsequently earned his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then went on to complete a 4-year residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel/Mount Sinai Health System, serving as chief resident in his final year. This program was one of only a handful of podiatric residencies in the entire country with an additional 4th year of surgical training, and encompassed covering all podiatric surgeries at seven Mount Sinai affiliated hospitals and five ambulatory surgery centers. After completing residency, he was offered the chance to stay on at Mount Sinai with Mount Sinai Doctors medical group, which he gladly accepted. This allowed him the opportunity to help teach the next generation of residents as well as to continue to provide care for the wonderful patients in the hospital system he felt so at home in.
Dr. Rutkowski is experienced in treating all foot and ankle pain and related problems from sports injuries, bunions, hammertoes, flatfeet, and arthritic conditions. He is also knowledgeable in many dermatologic issues of the foot, especially in wound care. He takes particular interest in all foot and ankle trauma including fractures and tendon ruptures, and is proficient in performing a variety of foot and ankle surgeries. While always attempting to solve any problem first conservatively through non-surgical solutions when possible, he is able to draw on his extensive surgical training to manage any conditions not responding to conservative care with surgery when indicated. He is dually board qualified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling the world and exploring new NYC restaurants with his wife. He is also an avid tennis and soccer fan, and enjoys watching history documentaries- particularly on Ancient Roman history.
