Michael Vardy, MD
About Me
Dr. Vardy completed his medical training at Sackler School of Medicine's New York/Tel Aviv program and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Albert Einstein School of Medicine in the Bronx in 1996. He spent three years as Assistant Clinical Professor at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center conducting randomized clinical trials studying hormone replacement therapy before returning to Albert Einstein School of Medicine to complete an ABOG accredited three-year fellowship in Urogynecology in 2002. He was awarded the prestigious American Urogynecologic Society June Allyson Grant in 2002 and was awarded the American Urogyneoclogic Society's Prize Manuscript in 2002 and 2004. He was appointed Director of Urogynecology in 2002 at the Mount Sinai affiliate, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey and founded a Urogyneocology fellowship program in 2003. In 2005, his program merged with Mount Sinai. In September 2007 his program became the 26th ABOG accredited program in the country. Dr Vardy continues to teach Fellows and conduct clinical and basic science research while expanding his private clinical practice.
Dr. Vardy is the principal investigator in basic science research on the biomechanical properties of pelvic supportive ligaments in the monkey model, and the principal investigator in the largest surgical trial to date for the infracoccygeal sacropexy. His research has been presented nationally and internationally since 2000, and he has been appointed to the American Urogynecologic Society's Education Committee. He has been elected Vice Chair of the Fellowship Directors Committee for the American Urogynecologic Society through 2009.
