About Me

Mourad M. Shehebar, MD is an assistant professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology at Baruch College in New York City and went on to earn his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C.

Following a medical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Shehebar completed his board certification residency in Anesthesiology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and additionally completed his Fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Shehebar specializes in interventional sports/spine pain management, musculoskeletal medicine (inclusive of spine, low back, sciatica, neck, and migraines/TMJ) as well as cancer pain management. He uses various treatment modalities uniquely tailored to each patient. Each patient can expect a highly-personalized evidence-based and comprehensive medical assessment to evaluate, diagnose, and treat pain symptoms or pain-related conditions.

Dr. Shehebar performs epidurals, medial branch (facet blocks), radiofrequency ablations, muscle trigger point injections, spinal cord stimulator, platelet-rich plasma, joint and nerve injections using imaging guidance including fluoroscopy and ultrasonography. He is part of the sub-department of integrative pain management and is interested in employing multimodal therapies in conjunction with rehabilitative techniques.

As of January 2020, Dr. Shehebar has assumed the role of Associate Program Director of Mount Sinai's Pain Fellowship.

As of 2022, Dr. Shehebar has been promoted to be the Program Director of Mount Sinai's Pain Management Fellowship.

He has been featured in New York Magazine as a TOP DOCTOR in 2022, 2023, 2024 and also has been named: Castle Connolly's Rising Star in 2024 as well as Castle Connolly Top Doctors New York Metro Area: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 placing him in the top 7% of all doctors nationally.
