About Me
Dr. Munir Ghesani serves as the System Chief of Nuclear Medicine at Mount Sinai Health and as an Associate Professor of Radiology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Throughout his career he has enjoyed his role as an educator. He has received certifications from the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Radiology.
Dr. Ghesani is in the academic nuclear medicine practice for more than 25 years. His primary research interests are in clinical and translational areas in oncologic imaging and targeted radionuclide therapies. He actively communicates with his clinical colleagues and participates in several multidisciplinary conferences at his institution each week. Working with the FDA, he has successfully introduced novel research radiotracers to his clinical colleagues.
Dr. Ghesani has numerous publications in the peer-reviewed journals and has given more than 100 presentations at the regional, national and international conferences.
Dr. Ghesani serves in the leadership roles in various societies and colleges, including the President-elect of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), Past Chairman of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, Past Chairman of the Government Relations Committee and the FDA Task Force of the SNMMI and Past Chairman of the Nuclear Medicine and PET Accreditation Committee of the American College of Radiology. In 2006 He was selected as the Fellow of the American College of Nuclear Medicine and in 2018 received the fellowship of the American College of Radiology. In January 2020, he was awarded as the ACNM Personal Best Mentor of the Year.
