Navneet Dogra, PhD
About Me
Navneet Dogra, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Genetics and Genomic Sciences and Pathology, Molecular, and Cell Based Medicine and a member of the Icahn Genomics Institute. Dr. Dogra's laboratory is working on the emerging field of genomics, liquid biopsy, and gene delivery, including: 1) Exosomes, Extracellular vesicles – nanoparticles actively secreted by cancer / tumor and benign tissue in human biofluids, 2) Cell-free DNA, RNA, and proteins – non-invasive tools for monitoring real time disease state, through RNA Sequencing, qRT-PCR, Proteomics etc., 3) Bioengineering – intersection of nanotechnology, microfluidics, drug delivery, and bioinformatics, and 4) Virus - Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV), SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19 genomics, drug discovery, and fundamental mechanism of endocytosis.
Prior to Mount Sinai, Dr. Dogra led research efforts at IBM research and Yale University to drive translational research in “liquid biopsy in cancer” and “drug delivery” by bridging together clinical and experimental oncology and develop novel tools for biosensing of genetic markers.
Dr. Dogra has recently filed for two US patents relating to “exosomes nanoparticles assisted drug delivery” and “tumor heterogeneity”. He has published in a diverse array of journals including Cell (research featured on the cover), Lab-on-a-chip, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces (cover feature), ACS Bioconjugate Chemistry, Langmuir (cover feature), and Scientific Reports.
