Neil Pathak, MD
Hand Surgery
About Me
Dr. Neil Pathak is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He offers a comprehensive practice in the diagnosis and treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions, with surgical expertise spanning trauma, nerve decompression, joint reconstruction and replacement, wrist and small joint arthroscopy, and microsurgery. He believes in maximizing nonoperative management prior to surgical intervention.
Dr. Pathak received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, where his research training was supported by the James G. Hirsch Endowed Research Fellowship. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center/Thomas Jefferson University — one of the highest-volume hand surgery training programs in the country.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Pathak maintains an active research program in orthopedic outcomes and health policy. He has authored 40 publications spanning adult reconstruction, spine, pediatric orthopedics, and hand and upper extremity surgery. His work has been recognized with the Best Paper Presentation award from the New England Hand Society and a Best Paper Symposium selection at the AAOS Annual Meeting. At Mount Sinai, he plans to continue this line of clinical outcomes research in hand and upper extremity surgery, while continuing to mentor residents, fellows, and medical students. He is a Candidate Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS), and a Member of the New England Hand Society (NEHS).
