About Me
Dr. Nestor Nestor is an Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and an Attending Physician at Elmhurst Hospital Center. Prior to medical school he worked as a research scientist after having earned a Master of Science in enzymology and protein chemistry from McGill University in Montreal. He went on to receive his medical degree from Albany Medical College, graduating in 2004. He was inducted to Alpha Omega Alpha in 2003. Dr. Nestor completed an Emergency Medicine residency at Albany Medical Center in 2007. He became a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in 2010. Prior to joining the Emergency Medicine faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine, Dr. Nestor held the faculty title of Assistant Professor at Albany Medical College. In addition to a clinical focus on critical care, Dr. Nestor maintains a role in medical informatics and worked with NYC H+H during their corporate wide implementation of Epic, including being a team member of the first successful GoLive at Elmhurst Hospital Center. For his participation he was awarded the 2016 NYC H+H Doctor’s Day Award. He also serves as an ACEP national councilor since 2012 and is a member of the state chapter’s Government Affairs Committee since 2011. With ACEP, he has worked for legislative improvements on multiple issues impacting patient care at both the federal and state levels such as emergency mental health care access and, most recently, system preparedness during the Covid-19 pandemic.
