About Me

Nicholas Chun, MD, is Clinical Instructor of Nephrology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with degrees in Biology and Literature, he received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center where he was honored with the Humanism Award by his medical peers and faculty for his excellence in patient centered care. He went on to complete both a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Chun specializes in caring for patients with a range of renal conditions, both acute and chronic. He treats patients who have developed chronic kidney disease due to many different medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, HIV, hepatitis, or heart disease. His clinical focus also includes treating patients with renal complications related to cancer, autoimmune diseases, as well as patients with kidney stones and electrolyte abnormalities. Dr. Chun values his role in helping patients recover from acute kidney conditions as well as his long-term relationships with patients with chronic kidney conditions. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Chun has research interests in transplant immunology and for the past several years has studied the mechanism of transplant rejection hoping to discover novel methods to prolong graft survival and improve human health.
