About Me

Dr. Syed received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and he completed his neurosurgical residency training at The Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Complex Spine Surgery at the University of Tennessee/Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis.

Prior to joining Metropolitan Neurosurgery, Dr. Syed practiced in New York. He served as Director of the Spine Radiosurgery Program, Assistant Director of the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Program at Northern Westchester Hospital and was appointed to the Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation Board. He also served as the Vice-Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery and Director of Spine Surgery at Putnam Hospital Center. He has been an active member of the Westchester County Medical Society having held various positions including President of the Westchester County Medical Society.

A Castle Connolly top neurosurgeon, Dr. Syed has exceptional bedside manner and he values and takes the time to understand the individual needs and preferences of his patients. He operates at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey and The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
