Oscar Rodriguez, PhD
About Me
Oscar L Rodriguez is a current PhD student in the Genetics and Data Science multidisciplinary training area at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Oscar is a member of the Sharp and Bashir Lab. He is interested in the human genome architecture and genetic variation, and the role that these play in human traits and different phenotypes.
In order to understand the role of genetic variation, the first step is to identify all types of genetic variants. My current research is on human diploid genome assembly and structural variation, particularly in complex regions of the human genome. Two complex regions/region-types that I primarily focus on, are tandem repeats which underly several neurological disorders and the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus which encode antibody genes.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Rodriguez has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
