About Me
Dr. Para Ahilan began practicing Cardiology in 2000 and joined Mount Sinai in 2016. After graduating from St. George's University in Grenada, Dr. Ahilan completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Coney Island Hospital. He then completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the same institution. With his board certifications in Cardiovascular Diseases, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography, Dr. Ahilan specializes in valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease. Additionally, Dr. Ahilan is bilingual and can communicate with patients in both English and Tamil.
In his professional community, Dr. Ahilan is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He explains that his childhood dream of becoming a doctor pushed him to pursue a role in medicine. When talking with patients, Dr. Ahilan advises that a healthy lifestyle will lead to longevity and good quality of life. Outside of his time with patients, Dr. Ahilan enjoys traveling around the world and gardening.
