About Me
Patrick C. Reid, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery who serves as Director of Spinal Neurosurgical Oncology at the Mount Sinai Health System. His expertise includes the treatment of spinal tumors, revision spine surgery, failed back syndrome, thoracolumbar spinal deformity, cervical spinal deformity, cervical myelopathy, thoracic myelopathy, degenerative spinal disease, and spinal fracture, and research interests in minimally invasive spine surgery, as well as outcomes research in adult scoliosis and sagittal imbalance.
Dr. Reid received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University with a double major in both Math and Molecular Biology. He subsequently received a Master’s degree in Physiology at Georgetown University before earning his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School at Rutgers University. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Southern California, during which time he completed a dedicated year of enfolded spine fellowship training with orthopedic surgeons at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Upon graduation of his residency, he underwent further subspecialty training in spinal deformity and tumor surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
Having completed two prestigious spine fellowships under both neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Reid brings perspectives and skills from experts and leaders of both departmental fields. His diverse training gives him a unique insight into not only the pathology that afflicts his patients but allows him to tailor his treatment to each individual patient using a wide range of available surgical and nonsurgical options.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Reid has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
