Paul Maung, MD
Hospital Medicine
About Me
Dr. Maung spent his childhood in the coastal city of Yangon, Myanmar. His family subsequently moved to Los Angeles, where he started his undergrad at UCLA. From early childhood, Dr. Maung has been interested in medicine and healthcare, but while in college, he saw firsthand the signs of aging and early phases of dementia in his grandmother, which awoke a passion for understanding geriatric care and aging in particular. After graduating from UCLA, he went on to Medical School at St George’s University and later did his residency at a busy community hospital Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn. He was able to continue his training with a Geriatrics Fellowship at NYU Langone Health and spent the year learning more about aging and caring and being an advocate for the elderly. Dr. Maung enjoys acute inpatient medicine and strives to provide high-quality care for all his patients. Dr. Maung is now dual board-certified in Geriatrics Medicine and Internal Medicine. In addition to clinical work, his area of interest is in healthcare quality and utilization management. He recently received board certification from the American Board of Healthcare Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP) and is also board certified by the American Board of Geriatrics Medicine.
