Paul Ragusa, DO

About Me

Dr. Paul Ragusa is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist who focuses on the surgical and non-surgical management of shoulder, elbow, and knee conditions. Dr. Ragusa has expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical techniques, primary and complex revision joint replacements, tendon and ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration surgery, and therapeutic biologics including platelet rich plasma (PRP) and cellular therapy. He is skilled in both open and arthroscopic surgical techniques, which are combined to provide the best individualized treatment options to address the unique circumstance of each patient.

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude from Manhattan College, Dr. Ragusa completed his medical degree with Honors from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed a residency program in Orthopedic Surgery at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident, before moving to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Hospital for a fellowship program in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Ragusa also traveled to London, Ontario as a visiting fellow to learn from world-renowned experts in complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction at the Roth McFarlane Hand and Upper Limbe Center. Dr. Ragusa is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and has received an additional subspecialty board certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. 

In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Ragusa serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He has also co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters. In his professional community, Dr. Ragusa is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
