Peter Einersen, MD
Surgery
About Me
Peter Einersen is a laparoscopic and robotic surgeon in New York City. His initial education and training led him to the field of finance, where he enjoyed a successful, 8-year career as a derivatives trader until a family illness served as a personal “calling” to medicine. He successfully navigated this unorthodox career change, getting his MD from Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2013 and continuing on to the highly competitive general surgery residency at The University of Colorado - Denver. There, he also completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship investigating trauma-induced-coagulopathy (TIC) on an NIH T32 training grant. He returned home to complete a fellowship in Advanced GI, Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2020-21.
His special expertise in robotics and laparoscopy includes: bariatric (weight loss) surgery, hernia surgery, foregut (stomach and esophagus) surgery, and small bowel and colon surgery.
