About Me
Dr. Midulla has been the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital since 2006. He completed his General Surgery Residency training at Mount Sinai and fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at The Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and The American Association of Pediatrics and is an active member of The American Pediatric Surgical Association.
Dr. Midulla’s clinical interests and expertise cover the gambit of pediatric surgical conditions, but he has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery in infants and children including neonatal laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. He has a particular interest in laparoscopic treatment of pediatric intestinal and colo-rectal conditions such as Hirschsprung’s Disease and Inflamatory Bowel Disease. He has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Castle-Connelly.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Midulla has an active leadership role within our institution. He was appointed Surgeon-in Chief of Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in 2012. In this role, he represents the pediatric surgical subspecialists in the leadership of the Children’s Hospital. He also serves as the Chief of Pediatric Trauma at our Elmhurst affiliate.
As the Chief of Pediatric Surgery, Dr. Midulla believes that one of his most important missions is training future Pediatricians and Pediatric Surgeons. Dr. Midulla coordinates Pediatric Surgical educational for our Pediatric Residents and is a one on one mentor with each of our General Surgery Residents. Under Dr. Midulla’s mentorship, we have graduated five General Surgery residents who have gone on to match in highly competitive Pediatric Surgery Fellowship positions, a feat matched by very few surgical programs.
