About Me
Rachel Levene, MD, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, and Pediatrics, is the Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship at Mount Sinai.
Rachel joined Mount Sinai in 2022, and has served as an Attending in the Pediatric Emergency Department at The Mount Sinai Hospital, and core faculty for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. In the role of Associate Program Director, Rachel focuses on growing the PEM Fellowship in collaboration with the graduate medical education office, through curriculum development, and trainee assessments and evaluations.
Dr. Levene has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts, and currently serves as a critical manuscript reviewer. As a trainee she presented at regional meetings, and was a sitting member of the ACGME national milestone working group, co-authoring the 2021-2022 ACGME PEM 2.0 trainee milestones.
Dr. Levene completed fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and residency in Pediatrics at The SUNY Downstate Medical Center / Kings County Hospital Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Levene graduated cum laude from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Levene was a lead science public school teacher for the New York City Department of Education.
