About Me
Rachel Levene, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Mount Sinai, where she serves as Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship. Since joining the institution in 2022, she has worked as an attending physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department and as core fellowship faculty.
In her leadership role, Dr. Levene partners closely with the Fellowship Program Director, with a focus on trainee assessment, evaluation, and feedback systems.
Her work extends nationally. As a trainee, she presented at regional conferences and served on the ACGME national milestone working group, co-authoring the 2021–2022 PEM 2.0 trainee milestones. She currently serves as a selected at-large member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Emergency Medicine (SOEM) Pediatric Emergency Medicine Education Steering Committee.
Dr. Levene completed her PEM fellowship at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and her pediatrics residency at SUNY Downstate / Kings County Hospital Center, where she served as Chief Resident. She graduated cum laude from St. George’s University School of Medicine, holds a Master’s in Secondary Science Education from The City College of New York, and earned a BA in Neuroscience and Theatre from Bowdoin College.
Before entering medicine, she taught with the NYC Department of Education.
