About Me

Rachel Kaplan, a certified Nurse Practitioner in Pediatrics, brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for collaborative, multidisciplinary care to her role at Mount Sinai, which she joined in 2022. Rachel completed her undergraduate degree in Child Development at Vanderbilt University before earning her Master of Education in Applied Child Studies. During her graduate internship at the Vanderbilt Children's Down Syndrome Clinic, Rachel focused on working with children with Down syndrome.

Rachel attended nursing school at Vanderbilt University and completed the LEND Program for Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. The LEND program's emphasis is on fostering leadership roles among health professionals, honing interdisciplinary team skills, developing advanced clinical skills, conducting research, and advocating for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Before joining Mount Sinai's Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics, Rachel dedicated over a decade to working in developmental and behavioral pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian.

As a core member of Mount Sinai's Down Syndrome Program, Rachel plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive, specialized care to patients with Down syndrome. Her expertise in collaborative and multidisciplinary approaches ensures that patients receive the highest quality of care, tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, Rachel is an integral part of the Lysosomal and Mitochondrial disorders care team at Mount Sinai.
