About Me
Rachel Weller, PsyD. is the Assistant Director of Mount Sinai’s UPRISE (Use Prevention Recovery Intervention Services & Education) program—an adolescent/young adult, substance-use prevention program forged through the Alliance between Mount Sinai’s Addiction Institute (AIMS) and The Comprehensive Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Service (CARES). She is a licensed clinical psychologist within Mount Sinai’s Faculty practice, with a demonstrated history of providing child, adolescent, and adult psychotherapy. Additionally, Dr. Weller serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and lecturer for the year-round Mount Sinai Morningside Family and Couple’s Therapy Seminar for psychology interns and psychiatry residents.
She completed her graduate training in clinical psychology at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where she received her M.A. and PsyD. degrees. Dr. Weller’s clinical experiences have spanned across school district, community mental health, outpatient, psychiatric hospital, residential, Veteran’s hospital, and private practice settings. She utilizes an integrative approach to treatment—drawing influence from psychodynamic, mindfulness and acceptance-based (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy [ACT]), and evidence-based approaches (e.g., Cognitive-behavioral Therapy [CBT]; Dialectical Behavior Therapy [DBT]) and modified to fit the individual needs of the individuals she serves.
Dr. Weller has received two faculty awards for her supervision and teaching. Her personal style is characterized by warmth, authenticity, and a commitment to understanding her client’s unique strengths/resources in order to enact meaningful change. She provides individual, group, and couples/family therapy. Her areas of specialization include: trauma, co-occurring disorders (mental health and chemical dependency), and family/couples therapy.
