About Me
Raj Parekh, M.D., earned his undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics from Boston University before completing a post-baccalaureate certificate at Rutgers University. He received his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his anesthesiology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Parekh is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and serves as Vice Chairman of Clinical Operations for the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. In his leadership roles as Anesthesia Clinical Coordinator, he oversees patient safety and quality initiatives, operating room efficiency, clinical staffing and scheduling, departmental strategic planning, and system-wide coordination across the Mount Sinai Health System.
A strong advocate for patient safety, Dr. Parekh serves as a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Chair, leading investigations to improve safety across the hospital system. He also helped establish the Difficult Airway Response Team (DART) at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West, chaired the Department of Anesthesiology Equipment Committee for seven years, and served on the American Society of Anesthesiologists' Committee on Equipment and Facilities. He is also an active member of several institutional committees, including the Trauma Operations Committee, Perioperative Operations Committee, Clinical Competency Committee, and the Faculty Council.
Outside of work, Dr. Parekh enjoys being a girl dad, staying active, reading, and watching sports.
