About Me
Professor Asgary is a health services researcher and clinical and public health educator. His research is on cancer control, health disparities solutions, homeless health, global health, and humanitarian assistance. His clinical expertise is in internal medicine, preventive medicine, and cancer control. He completed a fellowship in Health Services Research at NYUSoM, Internal Medicine Residency at Montefiore Med Ctr (AECOM), Preventive Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), and Tropical Medicine at John’s Hopkins Univ. He completed Master in Public Health at Columbia University and Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research and a training in Comparative Effectiveness Research at NYUSoM. He completed his Master in Community Medicine at Moutn Sinai (ISMMS). Professor Asgary has extensive clinical and research experience in humanitarian, disasters, and international health working with major humanitarian organizations. Dr. Asgary was the Founding Director of Health and Human Rights program at ISMMS and a senior memebr of Center for Global Health Education at ISMMS. Previously he was Director of Community Medicine at Weill Cornell College of Medicine. Professor Asgary is a recipient of multiple teaching and service awards. He worked extensively with Doctors Wihout Borders in humanitarian and disaster settings and served on its Boards of Directors for two-terms. He currently serves as Director of Humanitarian Health and Disaster Response program at GWU. He conducts clinical trials on cancer screening domestically and inetrnationally.
