About Me
Rebecca Maitin, DO is a fellowship-trained physician specializing in Sports, Interventional Spine, and Regenerative Musculoskeletal Medicine. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Maitin earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University, where she was an NCAA Division I gymnast, a two-time Ivy League champion, and an Academic All-American. She obtained her medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating at the top of her class. Following this, she completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was awarded Chief Resident during her final year. She furthered her training with an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Sports Medicine and Interventional Spine at Mount Sinai, where she also gained expertise in regenerative medicine techniques, including PRP and shockwave therapy, and was a part of the medical team for USA Fencing and the NYRR NYC Marathon.
Dr. Maitin’s clinical practice focuses on the conservative treatment of sports injuries and spine disorders, emphasizing individualized treatment plans that combine therapies, medications, and procedural interventions. She has a special interest in women’s health and sports medicine, particularly issues related to the female athlete, including relative energy deficiency syndrome, knee pain, stress fractures, and physical activity during and after pregnancy. Dr. Maitin is skilled in fluoroscopically-guided spine injections as well as ultrasound-guided peripheral joint and soft tissue injections, with the goal of optimizing function and helping patients return to an active lifestyle while preventing future injuries.
