Renana Nerwen, PsyD

About Me

Renana Nerwen, M.S.Ed., Psy.D. is a pediatric psychologist. She completed her B.A. in Psychology at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women. She completed her doctoral training at Pace University’s School-Clinical Child Psychology Psy.D. Program (New York, NY). Her doctoral research focused on the relationships between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), positive parenting behaviors, and resilience. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Lincoln Medical Center (Bronx, NY) and a post-doctoral fellowship in integrated primary care at Montefiore Medical Center’s (Bronx, NY) Pediatric Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP). Dr. Nerwen is experienced in infant mental health; she is a HealthySteps Specialist and has completed certification training with Circle of Security Parenting International. She has trained in school-based, outpatient psychology, neurodevelopmental, and pediatric primary care settings.

Dr. Nerwen is part of developing an integrated behavioral health program in pediatric primary care, with a focus on teaching and mentoring medical residents in mental health, child development, and parenting support. Dr. Nerwen provides short-term psychotherapeutic interventions and consultation to children and families, assists with diagnosis and treatment of psychological and behavioral concerns, as well as developmental disabilities, across the pediatric lifespan.

Dr. Nerwen has experience working with individuals and families with a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, behavior problems, ADHD, trauma, and parental mental health. Dr. Nerwen provides individual and family psychotherapy from an integrative orientation, utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, attachment-focused, and behavior-management treatment interventions. Dr. Nerwen has experience working with children with co-morbid developmental and learning disabilities and is passionate about educational advocacy.

Research Focus:
Dr. Nerwen’s research focuses on the relationships between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), positive parenting behaviors, and resilience.
