About Me
Reshmi Srinath, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease; and is Director of the Mount Sinai Weight and Metabolism Management Program.
She is dually certified in endocrinology and obesity medicine (American Board of Obesity Medicine).
Her interests in metabolism, nutrition, and prevention of metabolic disease began while she was in college as a Division 1 tennis player, which led her to pursue a career in medicine specializing in endocrinology.
Dr. Srinath graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine with a merit scholarship, before completing her residency in internal medicine at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. She went on to pursue fellowship training in endocrinology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, before joining Mount Sinai.
As a faculty member at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, she is an expert in the assessment, treatment, and prevention of obesity, type 2 diabetes and other metabolic complications of weight. She takes an individualized approach to every patient, counseling on healthy lifestyle and the importance of physical activity, utilizing pharmacotherapy as indicated, as well as basal metabolism testing and body composition assessment. She is also involved in supervising students, residents, and fellows both inpatient and in various clinics. She served as co-author for the 2025 American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) Algorithm for the Evaluation and Treatment of Adults with Obesity/Adiposity -Based Chronic disease, and currently serves on multiple national committees with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE), Endocrine Society and American Boad of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
Dr. Srinath’s research includes both prospective and retrospective studies involving lifestyle interventions, pharmacotherapy, and devices. She has been published in the Washington Post, US News and World Report, New York Magazine, the Cut, CBS News Sunday Morning, PIX11 News, and in Our Town Newspaper.
Dr. Srinath is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care to patients with obesity, diabetes and metabolic disease, while expanding on her research in these areas.
