Richard M Lee, MD

Dr. Richard M. Lee is Chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai South Nassau, where he has practiced since 2014. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of both benign and malignant hematologic disorders as well as a broad range of solid tumors. He has led the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology since 2018 and also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a position he has held since 2019.

Dr. Lee is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Hematology and Medical Oncology. He began his medical training through the University of Miami’s highly selective six-year combined undergraduate and medical degree program, completing both his undergraduate studies and medical education at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Loyola University, followed by fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Boston University Medical Center. During his final year of fellowship, he was selected to serve as Chief Fellow, reflecting his leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to medical education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lee has combined direct patient care with physician leadership and academic medicine. As Division Chief, he helps oversee the delivery and advancement of hematology and oncology services at Mount Sinai South Nassau while continuing to maintain an active clinical practice. His academic appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai further reflects his commitment to the education and development of future physicians.

Dr. Lee is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Medical Association.

Beyond his clinical, leadership, and academic responsibilities, Dr. Lee is deeply committed to serving the broader community. He is actively involved in community outreach and education, with a particular passion for improving cancer awareness, expanding access to high-quality hematologic and oncologic care, and helping patients and families better understand complex medical diagnoses and treatment options.
