Rita Okumu, MD is an assistant professor of neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is a board-certified neurologist with specialized training in neuro-ophthalmology. She manages neurologic conditions that affect vision, such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, giant cell arteritis, optic neuritis, double vision, brain tumors or stroke along the visual pathway, and myasthenia gravis.
She also sees patients for general neurologic concerns such as headache, weakness, numbness or tingling and seizures. Dr. Okumu’s clinical focus is on establishing a collaborative, multisystem (ophthalmology, neurology, endocrinology) approach for management of patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
