About Me

Dr. Robin Unger is one of the most prominent and well-respected surgeons performing hair transplant surgery. She is a co-author of the gold-standard textbook in this field, Hair Transplant Surgery, 5th edition, and has published extensively in textbooks and journals. She is a board certified Hair Restoration Surgeon (ABHRS) and a member of the ISHRS, who is actively involved in teaching residents and international surgical fellows from around the world.

Dr. Unger has a practice dedicated solely to hair restoration, including those with male pattern baldness, female pattern hair loss and patients requiring surgery to correct scars from dermatologic disease or other facial plastic surgical procedures. Her approach to hair transplant surgery is unique in several ways; most importantly, she operates on only one patient a day and thus is completely focused on every detail of the procedure. Research

Dr. Unger made the surprising discovery in several patients that hair transplanted into areas of alopecia areata successfully produced lasting hair growth. She is currently conducting research to further understand how this process may work and which patients may be acceptable candidates for such a treatment.

She is investigating the use of platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP) to slow periods of acute telogen effluvium and Acell for wound healing and improved scar formation.

The most exciting research under investigation is a patented hair preservation technique which will soon be available for general patients.
