Robyn J Sysko, PhD

About Me
Dr. Sysko is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Center of Excellence for Eating and Weight Disorders in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a licensed clinical psychologist. She received an undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a PhD from Rutgers University, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Over the last 20 years, Dr. Sysko has been involved with research and treatment of a wide range of eating and weight disorders. She received a K23 Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and a Young Investigator Award from the Brain and Behavior Research Fund (formerly NARSAD). More recently, she has served as a Co-Investigator on several NIH grants and as a Global Mental Health Scholar for the World Health Organization’s revision of the classification of Mental and Behavioural Disorders in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).
She currently serves as the Director of Research, Bariatric Services, and Psychology Training in the Center of Excellence. Funded projects in the Center are examining: neuroimaging and eating behavior in adolescents with low weight eating disorders before and after a treatment intervention, PET imaging of endocannabinoids and estrogen biosynthesis, and digital health technology pre- and post-bariatric surgery and among individuals seeking weight loss.
