
Rohit Ranganath
About Me
Dr. Rohit Ranganath is a board-certified Endocrine and General Surgeon who joined Mount Sinai South Nassau in 2022. He specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and other head and neck tumors. In addition to endocrine and head & neck surgery, he performs robot assisted surgery for hernia repairs, appendectomy, gall bladder surgery, and INSPIRE implantation for sleep apnea.
Dr. Ranganath earned his medical degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India, following which he trained in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Oncology. He then moved to the States and completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He pursued further training and completed a fellowship in Head & Neck Endocrine Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He is an active member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES), American Head and Neck Society (AHNS), American Thyroid Association (ATA), and also serves on various committees.
His research interests include minimally invasive treatment options for endocrine tumors, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and authored chapters in surgical texts. He is a Clinical Assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine and plays an active role in surgery resident education at Mount Sinai South Nassau where he has won awards for teaching.
Dr. Ranganath’s clinic visits include a thorough interview, physical exam, ultrasound exam, laryngoscopies, and ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsies for thyroid nodules, if clinically required.
Dr. Ranganath notes, "I was inspired by two generations of physicians in my family to pursue medicine. I always wanted to treat people with cancer and guide them through the complexities of therapy. After I trained in India, I moved to the States with the goal to train with the best physicians in the field and pursue excellence. My mission is serving patients with compassion."
