About Me
Dr. Rohit Ranganath began practicing as a General Surgeon in 2019 and joined Mount Sinai South Nassau in 2022. After earning his medical degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India, Dr. Ranganath completed a residency in Otolaryngology at the same institution. He then moved to Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Pennsylvania for his internship and residency in General Surgery. To complete his training, Dr. Ranganath completed a fellowship in Head & Neck Endocrine Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland. With his board certification by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Ranganath's clinical interests include minimally invasive therapeutic options for thyroid nodules, adrenal tumors, and hyperparathyroidism. Additionally, he is multilingual and can communication with his patients in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil.
In conjunction with his clinical work, Dr. Ranganath plays an active role in academia. He is involved in didactic teaching of surgery residents and board preparation at Mount Sinai South Nassau. Dr. Ranganath is involved in research where his interests include the treatment of endocrine disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. He believes in minimally invasive treatment options to reduce morbidity and improve quality of life in patients with cancer. Dr. Ranganath also has multiple publications in prestigious journals such as the World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, The American Surgeon, and the Annals of Thyroid.
In his professional community, Dr. Ranganath is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the American Head and Neck Society, the American Thyroid Association, and the American College of Surgeons. When discussing his pathway into medicine and his current role as a physician, Dr. Ranganath explains, "I was inspired by two generations of physicians in my family to pursue medicine. I always wanted to treat people with cancers. After I trained in India, I moved to the States with the goal to work and train with the best physicians in the field I have chosen. I value the immense faith people place in me to help them get better and my goal is to provide compassionate care."
